Working with Dashboards

 

 

 

 

ABACUS projects can have any configuration of views (e.g. diagrams, charts etc) saved as a dashboard and these saved dashboards can be set as the default starting 'screen' on opening a project and/or assigned to a specific user group and presented to members of that user group when they log in to an ABACUS project.

 Note

To configure dashboards in an ABACUS project the user license needs the Administrator capability. Please contact your local ABACUS Administrator or Avolution Support if you require this capability.

To view a saved Dashboard

1.Select View | Dashboards

2.Select a saved dashboard from the list of available dashboards.

 Note

Once selected ABACUS will build the views required for the dashboard and this may take a few seconds. Please be patient.

To create a new Dashboard

1.Open the required views and arrange and dock windows as required for the dashboard.

2.Select View | Dashboards | Manage Dashboards...

 Note

If you don't see the Manage Dashboards menu item then you don't have the Administrator capability. Please contact your local ABACUS Administrator or Avolution Support if you require this capability.

3.In the dialog that appears select the Create button and enter the Dashboard name in the Create New Dashboard dialog.

4.Click on the OK button.

To delete an existing Dashboard

1.Select View | Dashboards | Manage Dashboards...

2.In the dialog that appears select the Dashboard you wish to delete from the list and select the Delete button.

 Note

Deleting a dashboard will also delete any user group assignments to that dashboard.

3.Click on the OK button.

To replace an existing Dashboard

1.Open the required views and arrange and dock windows as required for the replacement dashboard.

2.Select View | Dashboards | Manage Dashboards...

3.In the dialog that appears select the Dashboard you wish to replace from the list and select the Replace button.

4.Click on the OK button to acknowledge the Dashboard Replaced dialog.

To assign a Dashboard as the default Start Screen

1.Select View | Dashboards | Manage Dashboards...

2.In the dialog that appears select the Dashboard from the list you wish to assign as the default start 'screen' and select the Assign... button.

3.In the dialog that appears select the <Default Project> entry in the User Groups column.

 Note

Only one dashboard can be assign as the <Default Project> start 'screen' so re-assignment will remove the <Default Project> assignment from the previous dashboard.  Furthermore, if the user logs in as a member of a user group that has an assigned dashboard then the assigned dashboard will be opened in lieu of the default project dashboard.

4.Click on the OK button.

To assign a User Group to a Dashboard

1.Select View | Dashboards | Manage Dashboards...

2.In the dialog that appears select the Dashboard from the list you wish to assign a user group to and select the Assign... button.

3.In the dialog that appears select the User Group (or Groups) you wish to assign the dashboard as the 'start up' screen for.

 Note

If the same User Group is assigned to multiple dashboards then the first assignment in the list will be used.

4.Click on the OK button.

To unassign a User Group from a Dashboard

1.Select View | Dashboards | Manage Dashboards...

2.In the dialog that appears expand the Dashboard item from the list you wish to unassign a user group from.

3.Select the User group you wish to unassign and select the Unassign button.

4.Click on the OK button.
