Importing into your Architecture

ABACUS allows you to import into your architecture from an .abacus (ABACUS file), .xml (an ABACUS XML fragment or an ArchiMate Interchange Language XML file), .vsd/.vsdx/.vdx (Microsoft Visio) format, and .xls (Microsoft Excel) format. This allows you to build your architecture from external sources quickly.

To import your architecture from .abacus (ABACUS file)

1.Ensure you have an ABACUS file open.

2.Right-click on the Architecture node, any architecture in your model or any part of the Components tree.

3.Select Import | From File... from the menu.

4.Choose a location and the .abacus file and click the Open button.

 Note

After you have selected the file you want to import, you will be asked how you would like to import the ne standards, types and viewpoints. You can import standards, types and viewpoints as either new or merged standards, types and viewpoints. The default setting is for standards, types and viewpoints to be merged with existing standards, types and viewpoints if they already exist (with the same exact name) in your project. If there are no new standards, types or viewpoints it will automatically skip dialogs and all will be set to merge with existing. If the imported projects default grouping type is set, you will see the dialog give the option to create a type for it if a component/connection type doesn't exist for it.
